![]() When Apple came out with the Mac App Store, they offered electronic downloads of Aperture for $79.99 as a way to draw attention to the store and electronic (as opposed to physical) distribution. it was a professional image organizer / editor that originally went for $499 USD (then $299, then $199). The protests did nothing.Īpple never offered Aperture for free. One day, out of the blue, decided to discontinue them and replace them with Photos. ![]() They both had a very enthusiastic fan base. Some years ago there was iPhoto which was for the dummies and Aperture for the more savvy. With a few exceptions the ones offered for free have a very bad record: either they degrade over time like iTunes or they go down the drain. I must warn you about the dark side Apple's range of applications. I'll also check out Apple's Photo and see how that works. It's a bit tricky at first but it's the most powerful in the whole universe. To rename files (whatever the type) the best soft is the bundled utility Automator (found in the Applications folder). Of course with Bridge you have many more functions: the metadata and so on. It's very handy for a quick review of new images for example. Press the space bar again and the image is closed. With the small arrow keys you can navigate among images.
